Intimate Portrait Session: Karina
I was so excited when Karina contacted me about a boudoir portrait session. Karina wanted to surprise her new husband with some beautiful portraits of herself. Because this was a surprise shoot, we had to shoot it outside of her home and you could say this was the moment my apartment became a studio (yay!). We converted my bedroom into a boudoir studio and the living room into a natural light glamour space.
In case you are wondering, there is a slight difference between boudoir and glamour photography. Or at least this is how I see it. Boudoir is sexy and intimate, usually a private shoot in lingerie meant for yourself or for someone special in your life. Glamour, while sexy and intimate as well, is a focus on beauty. It doesn’t matter what you chose to wear – the point is for the photographer to find your inner beauty and make it come out in full swing.
In preparation for Karina’s session, I researched both boudoir and glamour and found that I was irrevocably more drawn to the latter. Boudoir is a beautiful genre, but glamour celebrates beauty while being a little less revealing. It’s like the advice young girls get from their parents about dressing – leave some things to the imagination. It is simple and classic and so, SO, fun to shoot. There is so much room for creativity and beautiful images – it’s just a photographer’s dream.
I hope you enjoy these images from Karina’s session!
Karina you are STUNNING!
This is my favorite portion of our shoot. Natural, sweet, simple.
