Portrait Headshot Session: Nargess

Nargess joined me in my studio on a cold foggy day for some headshots. She is a real estate agent with Keller Williams Neighbourhood Realty Brokerage here in the Greater Toronto Area and needed some updated images for her business cards and lawn signs.

I took this opportunity to capture some natural professional portraits. I believe, as a photographer and a consumer, that natural-looking headshots – that is, ones that don’t appear to be set in a traditional studio but rather in a natural environment such as a home or outdoors – are always more appealing. These images are relatable to us and can make the person in the photograph seem friendly and inviting.

We had such a fun time working together and going through Nargess’ amazing wardrobe (I wanted to keep half of it!) and picking out outfits and accessories. It was a professional shoot, but the behind-the-scenes were extremely girly and fun. And that’s how I like it. Enjoy the images and look out for them on a lawn sign near you. 😉

Keeping in mind that these shots would be used for business cards, I intentionally left a lot of white (empty) space around her for room to write in her details.

Since the foggy day prevented much natural light from reaching the inside of the studio, we used an additional light and umbrella to fill in some of the shots.
