Peony Alley and Good Days at Work
I think it’s safe to say that all of us, no matter what we do for a living, have good days and bad days. We also have moments (at least I hope we all do!) that make us think “this, this is why I am doing this job”. For me, that happens every time I photograph a wedding. I love it so much that, in fact, if it was humanly possible, I could shoot a wedding once a day and twice on Sundays.
But what specifically makes me love it so much are the special moments that differentiate each wedding from one another, both in their elements and in the photography. Recently this took place photographically when we discovered a peony alley at Dundurn Castle in Hamilton during Gina and Rocky’s June wedding. Peonies are the diamonds of flowers. Dramatic statement, but for real, they are amazing. To come across an entire alleyway lined with these drooping beauties was basically like getting to the playground when you were 5 and discovering that you could play with anything you wanted because no one else was there. In both cases you happily take ginormous amounts of advantage.
Here are some of my favorite peony shots from Gina and Rocky’s wedding this summer – a little peek before the whole wedding set is posted. I hope you enjoy!:
